Tarrah Ethier, a Translational Medicine PhD Student at Queen’s University recently achieved a new milestone in her graduate training. Tarrah received just under $5,000 in funding to work on a project analyzing immune regulation, sex hormones & cardiovascular aging. As part of her work, she gave a public lecture at the E.K. Dawson Research in Aging symposium.
Tarrah’s research interests include women’s cardiovascular health as well as the influence of sex hormones and the menstrual cycle on cardiovascular mechanisms. Currently, her work focuses on understanding the mechanisms behind the sex paradox in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, a disease impacting the cardiovascular, pulmonary and immune systems.
Tarrah’s research aligns well with the Women’s Health Research Cluster’s mission to reduce gaps in knowledge about women’s health, including women’s cardiovascular health. To stay updated on her work, visit her website profile or follow her on X.
