Hailey Bieber’s Smoky Amethyst Nails Are so Unexpected

I’m not exaggerating even a little bit when I tell you that seeing Hailey Bieber’s most recent manicure felt like in The Wizard of Oz where everything changes from black-and-white to technicolor. I can appreciate anything the 28-year-old does, but man, it’s nice to see some major pigment on her nails after months of soft Frenches.

On Tuesday, April 8, Bieber and a host of her fabulous friends and colleagues attended the Fashion Trust U.S Awards in Los Angeles. The nonprofit initiative is “dedicated to discovering, funding, and nurturing young design talent,” and the model took the stage at this year’s event to offer Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello the Honorary Award for his impact in fashion (and providing her favorite sunglasses).

Though Bieber held her hands behind her back for much of her presentation, she knew we had to get a peek at that mani. It was mauve! And it was perfect.

Bieber’s nails were shaped into her signature rounded almond shape before they were painted the muted purple shade, which she paired with a matching sleeveless cutout gown by Saint Laurent (duh). She threw on some gold rings to highlight the soft color, which reminds me of Essie’s Get a Mauve On, Manucurist’s Rose Mountbatten or OPI’s Reykjavik Has All The Spots (if you’re looking to add a little shimmer).

Bieber, for her part, opted for a shiny but not sparkly finish, forgoing her signature glazed look for a style that stood on its own sans French tip or chrome powder.

That’s the magic of color, huh? I can’t wait for all of the flowers to bloom this spring, and this feels like a good omen that they’re coming soon.

Now, what Rhode products do we have going on here? While Bieber has yet to share a breakdown, I’m happy to admire her freckles, soft purple-ish shadow, rosy cheeks, and peptide lip tinted lips at face value.

Most of all, this entire look reminded me to stock up on the brand’s mauve shades. Pocket Blush in Sleepy Girl is a favorite and the new, warm berry brown PBJ Peptide Lip Tint also feels fitting.
