To quote Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek, my favourite season is awards. And awards season is well and truly underway, with the 2026 BAFTAs kicking off tonight. The ceremony kicked off at 5 pm today and will be broadcast on BBC One at 7 pm tonight. We’ll be updating the winners list as we go, so if you don’t want any spoilers, now’s the time to tap out.
This year’s biggest heavy-hitters, Paul Thomas Anderson’s thriller One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler’s genre-busting vampire epic Sinners, both lead the way with 14 nominations apiece. Shortly on their tails are Chloe Zhao’s poetic, moving Hamnet and Josh Safdie’s all-American, mile-a-minute ping pong prodigy epic Marty Supreme. Following the trend set by the Oscars, Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice awards, Sentimental Value is the fifth film up for Best Picture.

The BAFTAs don’t just celebrate achievements in film – they also spotlight British contributions to the medium. Ten wonderful British films are up for the Outstanding British Film Award, including Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Harry Lighton’s black rom-com Pillion and the Cillian Murphy-led Steve.
The ceremony is taking place at London’s iconic Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre. Read on for the full list of BAFTA 2026 winners:
