MAC Makeup was the reigning makeup brand of the 1990s and 2000s, and even today, people want to relive those makeup-manic dreams.
We’ve all been looking for lookalikes, for 90s lipsticks you can buy today, but why not treat yourself to the real thing? There are some iconic MAC Lipsticks like Ruby Woo and Whirl, but what about the ones we see on TV? On the big screen?
MAC lipsticks have been a staple in the makeup department; and after some digging, we now know what MAC Lipsticks were used on Friends, Black Swan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Devil Wears Prada, to name a few.
Below, see which MAC lipsticks were used on some of your favorite movies and TV shows:
Lady Danger
Emma Stone’s lip color in Cruella is actually an orange-red MAC lipstick called Lady Danger, per Brittany Cale. Lady Danger is a bright coral red, more warm-toned for those types of skin tones, and it’s quickly becoming a beloved staple in celebs and shoppers’ makeup routines.
Dubonnet
Fun fact: Gwen Stefani wore Dubonnet while playing Jean Harlow in The Aviator. It was reported on the archived site Makeup411 via Fedora Lounge, and we can totally see it! It’s a mid-tone wine shade, a darker red that perfectly emulates both romantic and vintage vibes in one.
See Sheer
TikToker and makeup expert Brittany Cale revealed that a color typically used on Emma Caulfield on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Mac’s See Sheer. Described as a “grapefruit pink,” See Sheer is essentially a semi-peachy pink color that’s perfect for Spring.
Paramount
Jennifer Aniston wore Paramount during her run on Friends, which she confirmed in 2017 to Glamour. It’s a comfortable reddish brown hue, almost a brick color, that’s compounded with different seen oils for a softer feel.
Spice It Up!
Along with Aniston, Courteney Cox wore Spice It Up numerous times for that cranberry look, per Who What Wear. Spice It Up is a sheer brown berry look that is quite buildable, meaning it can go on more sheer to super pigmented.
Marrakesh
Guess what? The MAC Matte Lipstick in Marrakesh was the same lipstick Gillian Anderson used in The X-Files, per Greensboro. It was discontinued for a bit, but has come back in their permanent collection. It’s a stunning orange-brown that makes a darker nude shade on some lighter skintones!
Dubonnet
Dubonnet, the mid-tone wine shade, was also used on the set of Black Swan, specifically for Natalie Portman. And yes, Brittany Cale confirmed this!
Russian Red
Anne Hathaway rocked an iconic red in The Devil Wears Prada, which just so happens to be the ever-so-legendary Russian Red. It’s an intensely pigmented blue-red, making it look gorgeous on those with cool-toned skin tones. This was confirmed by Evoke and Brittany Cale, who claimed Hathaway was one of the many stars who donned this.
Russian Red
Selena Quintanilla’s favorite lipstick was Russian Red, which was also used by Jennifer Lopez in the iconic movie Selena, per Glitter Magazine.
Ruby Woo
Brittany Cale revealed that Elvira’s iconic red lippie was MAC’s Ruby Woo! (Yes, this is the same lipstick Taylor Swift wore!) Ruby Woo is a pigmented blue-red, which makes your teeth look whiter and evens your skin tone!
