One of the best ways to get your favorite fragrance to last is to extend its use past a spritz of Eau de Parfum and into your soap, lotion, etc. Sol de Janeiro has made this so easy, offering up haircare, SPF (in every format), traditional perfumes, deodorants, and body mists in their beloved scents.
Still, hydration is what we loved them for first. Though the Brazil-inspired brand is always figuring out new ways to fit their brightly colored, dreamily scented products into our world, they’re well aware of the original niche they carved out for themselves on our bathroom shelves.
On May 22, the brand’s newest launch, Body Badalada Vitamin Infused Lotion, will be available to shop. The new hydrator is the original Bum Bum Cream‘s lighter, faster-absorbing sister, and we have no doubt that she’ll become just as beloved for her similarities and her own virtues. Ahead, discover everything there is to know about the lotion—including our honest review.

The Inspiration
Packaged in the bright orange-y yellow shade that we associate with the original Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, Body Badalada (loose translation: “the hottest thing”) is your summertime answer to full-body hydration. The brand shared the phrase “weightless hydration from sunrise to after party” when describing the product; it’s the stuff you’ll want to slather on when you need to be out the door but need to make sure your skin is well prepared for any poolside skin action that might be taking place in the next 24 hours.
The lotion is infused with Sol de Janeiro’s dare I say most beloved fragrance, Cheirosa ’62. It’s the one you first smelled way back when and fell deeply in love with. Top notes include pistachio and almond. You’ll find heliotrope and jasmine petals in the middle and vanilla, salted caramel, and sandalwood at the dry down.
The Formula
Body Badalada’s middle name is literally “Vitamin Infused.” Its formula is packed with a blend of seven hyaluronic acids to help draw water into the skin, glycolic acid-rich Brazilian sugarcane to increase surface hydration, and Brazil nut oil, which has vitamin E and omegas 3 and 6 to increase moisture even further.
Sol de Janeiro
In a clinical study, 95 percent of testers agreed their skin felt healthy, hydrated, silky smooth, and immediately nourished after application. As for the other five percent?? I don’t know! Maybe they’re body oil people.

My Review
I’ll admit that I have a weird thing about lotion. I need to be in a very specific (ie. sad and dry in the depths of midwinter) headspace to appreciate an ultra-thick product, so—while I respect their major contributions to the body care world—Sol de Janeiro’s gorgeously scented tubs don’t make their way into my routine *too* often.
Body Badalada, though? I’m so glad it’s here. Upon first application (post-shower, as it’s written), the silky lotion sank right into my thirsty, body butter-denied skin. And you know what? It felt just as hydrated post-application as it had in the past with a thicker cream. I loved that I could pump this stuff right out as opposed to digging my fingers in a tub, and a little seemed to go a long way. This is a big bottle, and it only took a few pumps to feel like I hadn’t missed a spot.
While the lotion does absorb as quickly as promised, the softness it leaves behind is comforting. Even if there wasn’t that lingering Cheirosa ’62 scent—I love when I wake up in the morning and it’s still on my hands from lotioning the night before—you’d know something went down. You can see it (the glow!), you can feel it (so smooth), and in true Sol de Janeiro fashion, you can definitely smell it.
