This is one of the most elegant SPF50 formulas I’ve tried, and a brilliant example of what a modern sunscreen should feel like.

The texture is light, silky and fluid, and it melts into the skin effortlessly, almost like a serum. It leaves a soft, healthy glow that sets slightly, so you don’t get any greasiness or slip, and it layers beautifully over skincare.

It also sits incredibly well under makeup, helping create a smooth, refined base. If you’re someone who struggles to find an SPF you actually enjoy using daily, this is a standout.

Ultra Violette Fave Fluid SPF50+ Skinscreen

This is a super lightweight, fluid sunscreen that feels very easy to wear.

It blends quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave any heaviness, making it a great option if you prefer something that feels barely there. The finish is fresh and natural, and it works well as part of a simple daytime routine. I like that it includes skincare ingredients to address hyperpigmentation too.

A good option if you like your SPF to feel minimal on the skin and it works really well under makeup.

This is one of those SPFs that’s just incredibly reliable.  I’ve always liked La Roche‑Posay sunscreens, however, the new La Roche‑Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ takes it to the next level.

It has a lightweight fluid texture that spreads easily and absorbs quickly, making it ideal for everyday use. When I apply it, it sinks in straight away with literally no rubbing in required. It leaves absolutely no white cast, not even for a second. There’s no chalkiness, no residue, and absolutely no heaviness. It feels comfortable on the skin and works well under makeup without interfering with other products.

A great go-to if you want high protection in an easy, no-fuss formula.

The Ordinary UV Filters SPF45 Serum

This is a really nice option if you prefer a more skincare-like SPF texture.

It has a serum-style consistency that blends effortlessly into the skin and feels hydrating and comfortable to wear. It gives a soft, healthy-looking glow without feeling heavy. I never actually got around to writing a full review of this one, but it is actually one of my favourite products from The Ordinary and I really rate and recommend it.

The packaging is nice and it’s really easy to use, so it pretty much ticks all the boxes for me.

Not quite SPF50, but a great lightweight and affordable alternative.

Best Glow-Boosting SPF50

Garnier Vitamin C Daily UV Fluid SPF50 Glow

This is such a good affordable SPF, especially if you like a bit of glow.

It has a light fluid texture that blends easily and leaves the skin looking fresh and radiant without feeling greasy. It’s a really easy one to reach for daily. It melts into the skin really easily and leaves a lovely natural looking radiance without being too shiny or greasy looking.

Great if you want glow on a budget and the packaging is super sleek, making it easy to pack or through into your handbag for top ups during the day.

Kate Somerville HydraKate Illuminating SPF50

This is perfect if you love a luminous finish.

It gives the skin a hydrated, radiant look and feels more like a skincare product than a traditional sunscreen. It’s slightly richer than a fluid, but still very wearable. I like to spend a bit of time working this into my skin, and it gives a really gorgeous glowy result and deliver long lasting nourishment and hydration.

Ideal if you want your SPF to double as a glow-boosting step.

Lancaster Sun Perfect Illuminating Cream SPF50

This is a more skincare-led SPF with a focus on radiance and skin-perfecting benefits.

The texture is a little richer and leaves the skin looking smooth, making it a nice option if you prefer something a bit more nourishing. I really love the luminous finish on the skin and it’s a great product to layer under makeup. It has a nice moisturising feel and I think it will be particularly suited to dry skin as it’s very nourishing. If you are on the oily side, you can skip moisturiser with this, especially as it has it’s added anti-ageing benefits for hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.

Particularly good if you like a creamier SPF with added glow.

Best Hydrating SPF50

Vichy Mineral 89 Moisture Boosting Daily Fluid SPF50

This is a great option if hydration is a priority.

This is such an easy SPF product to use, and it genuinely feels more like a moisturising fluid than it does a high protection formula. It has a very silky and delicate texture that absorbs into the skin very easily and quickly becomes completely invisible with no white cast. It has a lightweight fluid texture, but it helps keep the skin feeling comfortable and hydrated throughout the day. It’s easy to layer and works well as part of a simple routine.

A good choice for dehydrated skin.

CeraVe Invisible Hydrating Fluid SPF50

This sunscreen is part of the new CeraVe suncare collection, which focuses on lightweight, skin-barrier-supporting sun protection for everyday use. It is a really solid everyday SPF that focuses on comfort and skin barrier support.

It feels gentle on the skin, doesn’t irritate, and is easy to wear daily. The texture is lightweight but still feels nourishing. The finish is natural and lightly hydrated, rather than shiny. My skin feels moisturised but not oily, which makes this particularly appealing for everyday wear. It gives a healthy, fresh look without crossing into greasy territory, and it doesn’t emphasise texture or dryness.

A great no-fuss option, especially if your skin is on the sensitive side.

Ranavat Brightening Mineral Sunscreen SPF50

This is a daily mineral sunscreen with SPF 50+ protection that doesn’t just shield your skin from the sun. It also works hard on the skincare side of things. It has been clinically tested to help soften the look of dark spots and fine lines, all while keeping the skin nourished and comfortable.

This is a beautiful mineral sunscreen with a more skincare-focused feel. It’s a nice option if you prefer mineral filters, and it also helps to leave the skin looking bright and healthy.

Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Clear Stick SPF50

This is brilliant for reapplying SPF throughout the day, especially over makeup. It’s perfect for handbag top-ups, completely mess-free, and powered by Shiseido’s incredible HeatForce and WetForce technology. 

It’s completely clear, easy to use and doesn’t disturb your base. It was reformulated and upgraded last year, so it now offers more hydration.

Perfect for keeping in your bag and for plane travel as it doesn’t count as a liquid. It’s non-comedogenic, clear, and suitable even for sensitive skin. It’s also water-resistant and ideal for sporty or humid conditions.

Clarins Invisible Sun Care Stick SPF50

Another really handy option for on-the-go SPF top-ups. It’s quick, mess-free and easy to apply whenever you need it.

I love Clarins as a brand, and really rate their sun care, and this stick is no disappointment. It feels like you are swiping on a super hydrating serum and gives the skin an instant smooth and glassy look that I absolutely love. As its name suggests, other than a skin flattering sheeny finish, it is completely invisible.

Best Skincare Hybrid SPF

Klira The Day Script

This is more of a skincare-first daytime product that includes SPF as part of the formula. What makes it most impressive for me is that it uses an encapsulated slow release SPF which delivers 8 hours of high factor sun protection. Like most people, I find reapplication a challenge and so when I was introduced to Klira The Dayscript which promises 8 hours of sun protection in one application I was very excited.

It’s designed to slot into your routine easily and feels more like skincare than sunscreen. a 7-in-1 targeted daily skincare treatment with SPF50 PA++++. It is described as an all-in-one daytime skincare solution. Rather than layering multiple products, it has been formulated to meet the skin’s daytime biological needs in a single application.

A great option if you like one step routines and don’t like topping up your SPF.

Worth Mentioning

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour HydraPlay Daily Defense SPF40
