There are several underground caves to explore at Naracoorte Caves. My friend chose the Alexandra Cave, to show me around, because it is quite similar to the one they have one their family’s vineyard in Wrattonbully. How the vines are nourished and watered by the underground limestone cave system, is fantastical! We even saw a clump of roots inside the Alexandra Cave, which made my imagination go wild, imagining how the entire vineyard must look like, from the bottom!
This tour goes on for about 30 minutes, twice a day ( please check the schedule on their website ) and we were led by our wonderful tour guide Carolyn, who also obliged me with a portrait!






Stalagmites and stalactites and droplets of limestone filtered water. The caves reminded me of the curves of Mother Earth. Sweating, breathing, flesh that sustains life.
