Olivia Munn is one proud mama! Ever since finding out she was expecting a baby girl via surrogate, she has longed for her daughter to reach a “classic Asian” milestone. And, finally, her 13-month-old daughter Méi has done it!
“I’ve been waiting so long to be able to put Méi Méi’s hair in the classic stick-straight, straight-up Asian ponytail,” the Your Friends & Neighbors star said in a video on Instagram. Méi is eating a fruit while her mom attempts to fasten her hair in the ponytail, but unfortunately for her, Méi “really doesn’t like to sit still.”

“Méi Méi, do you like the pineapple?” Munn asks her toddler, showing off the yellow pineapple decoration on the elastic. Méi just cries and moves her head out of the way in response, trying to avoid having her hair put up at all costs. By the end, she finally gets the rubber band around Méi’s hair, and it is so worth it! Méi looks adorable with the ponytail sticking straight up by her forehead.

“Classic Asian stick-straight, in the front, ponytail,” Munn added.
“She didn’t love the process but I think she liked the finished product?? 😅” Munn, who shares Méi and son Malcolm, 3, with husband John Mulaney, captioned the post. “Ever since I knew I was having a baby girl, I’ve been so excited to do this hairstyle on her.”
Munn explained, “She’s such a squirmer and doesn’t like to sit still and always wants to be put down and then picked back up again immediately, so this ponytail was challenging but so worth it. ☺️ And for those asking, that’s a persimmon.”
The comments were full of love and support for this little cutie. “Omg 😂😂😂 why is she just the cutest 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰,” one person wrote.
Someone else said, “As an Asian girl mom, my girl’s hair recently grew enough for this and I was so excited!! And we’re in the same boat with the squirming, but also wanting to be held 😆💜”

Méi turned 1 in September, and the Hit-Monkey star celebrated by posting the sweetest update about her little girl.
“She is the happiest, smiliest baby who will also let you know exactly when she doesn’t like something or want something you won’t give her (she mostly wants all the sharp things 😑),” Munn wrote on Instagram. “She is absolutely in love with her big brother, if I’m in the room she insists that I be the one to hold her and her daddy is the only one who can put her to bed.”
“She’s so cute when she drinks out of straws, she wants to be independent but also have me carry her which is why her favorite place is in the front carrier, her favorite cuisine is Thai and no matter what room she’s in she always manages to find the outlets 🔌😵💫 ,” Munn continued. “She’s crawling, standing and desperate to walk. Just like her Chinese zodiac and the translation of her name, she’s the perfect mix of a dragon and a plum.”
