Start the Conversation, Save a Life
From Men’s Health Network
Each April, Men’s Health Network (MHN) leads a national effort to raise awareness for one of the most treatable yet frequently overlooked cancers affecting young and middle-aged men—testicular cancer.
As the number one cancer in men ages 15 to 35, testicular cancer demands attention, conversation, and above all, action.
This April, we invite individuals, families, schools, and communities to Get in the Game for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month 2025. Whether you’re sharing educational resources, encouraging self-exams, or organizing community events, now is the time to join the movement.

Understanding Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer originates in the testicles, typically in the form of germ cell tumors (such as seminomas). While it accounts for a small percentage of all male cancers, the risk is significantly higher for young men. In 2025, an estimated 9,910 new diagnoses will be made in the U.S., with about 460 deaths.
Yet when caught early, testicular cancer is highly curable—with a five-year survival rate above 95%.
It’s a Young Man’s Disease
- Average age at diagnosis: 33
- 6% of cases affect boys and teens
- 8% of cases occur in men over 55
- Caucasian men are five times more likely to be diagnosed than African American men
These numbers underscore the importance of reaching men early—before symptoms escalate or opportunities for early treatment are lost.
What You Can Do: Early Detection & Self-Exams
Self-awareness is the first step toward prevention. Monthly self-exams are quick (less than three minutes) and can be performed in the shower.
Men should check for:
-
Painless lumps or swelling
-
Changes in size or shape
-
A heavy feeling in the scrotum
MHN offers a Testicular Cancer Awareness Kit including a shower hanger to serve as a monthly reminder and guide for proper self-exam techniques.
We encourage all men—and those who love them—to normalize talking about testicular health. Empower your brothers, sons, friends, and partners to prioritize their well-being.
Get Involved: Community & Digital Action

Start the Conversation at Home
Creating a culture of prevention starts with families. MHN encourages parents and caregivers to integrate discussions about testicular cancer into everyday life. A few examples include:
- Children (Ages 3–11): Focus on hygiene habits during bath time
- Teens (Ages 12+): Talk about family medical history and introduce the importance of self-exams
- Young Adults: Normalize conversations about men’s health and encourage routine check-ups
These small conversations can help build a foundation of lifelong health awareness.
