With another heat advisory in effect for much of the country, it’s safe to say that the dog days of summer are in full swing. The long, hot days of the late summer months can feel draining, but there are tons of quick fixes for boosting your mood while maximizing your beauty routine, namely in the way of a scorching hot summer manicure. If your inspiration is lacking, though, we’ve got you covered. Ahead, OPI Global Ambassador and celebrity nail artist, Natalie Minerva, names the three out-of-the-box summer nail trends that are guaranteed to get you out of your summer mani slump.
The ‘Deviled’ French
Yep, you read that right. The first of Minerva’s summer nail trend recommendations is an edgier take on the classic French manicure. “This nail design takes the classic tip and gives it a spicy outline with fiery red curves and polka dots that scream summer drama,” Minerva says. To recreate the look, opt for OPI’s Gel Color in Big Apple Red, Black Onyx and Pearl-Clutching Behavior.
3D ‘Hobnails’
Inspired by the textured design of the short, thick hobnails typically used for reinforcing boots, Minerva named 3D, bubble-inspired hobnail manicures as another eccentric summer manicure trend that stemmed from one of her A-list clientele and summer it-girl, Addison Rae. “This nail trend features glossy, 3D elements like bubbles or gel-raised textures that add dimension to the nail art,” she says. For Addison’s look, Minerva used OPI’s I’m Flawless Builder Gel on top of the brand’s GELevate Soft Gel Tips in Almond.
The ‘Juicy’ Double French
The double French manicure has been a trending one for some time now, and Minerva’s “juicy” take on the style for summer emphasizes the dimensional design by adding a bit of texture. “Meet the French manicure’s bubbly sister, the Double French,” Minerva says. “This design offers a modern, playful twist of the classic. Accessorize by applying a jewel to the center of the nail.” To create the below look, Minerva used OPI’s Cotton Candied Clawz for the sweetest pink hue.
