Right off the heels of Ulta Beauty’s announcement of retail platform, K-Beauty World (a first-to-market retail platform dedicated to the discovery of over 200 prestige K-beauty products), a buzzy new Korean skin serum has landed at Ulta: Rael Microcrystal Activated PM Serum 5000 ($25).
The overnight serum is powered by Shorticules, Rael’s proprietary, spicule microcrystals, to deliver the results of microneedling without any needles, pain or downtime. Additionally, this is the first-ever Shorticule spicule serum to hit U.S. shelves.
So what makes Shorticules, or microcrystal spicules, so special? According to the brand, spicules gently penetrate skin, creating microchannels that target stubborn blemishes, improve skin texture, even tone and accelerate skin renewal. Rael’s Microcrystal Spicules are coated in azelaic acid, specifically designed to visibly improve skin clarity, smoothness and post-acne marks overnight. Spicules also help enhance the performance of your subsequent serums and actives.
How It Works
First, spicules gently pierce skin to create microchannels, then air flows through microchannels to eliminate acne-causing bacteria. Lastly, azelaic acid, copper peptides and cica PDRN work to accelerate skin renewal, support the skin barrier and minimize irritation.
Who Can Use It
Rael Microcrystal Activated PM Serum is designed for sensitive, acne-prone or combination skin types. It is dermatologist tested, fragrance-free and Leaping Bunny certified.
Key Ingredients
Azelaic acid-coated spicules, copper peptides and cica PDRN
How to Use It
At night, apply an even layer of Rael Microcrystal Activated PM Serum directly onto cleansed, dry skin before any other serums. (There will be a slight prickling sensation as the microcrystals activate.) Follow with additional serums and moisturizers.
The brand recommends using it one-to-three times a week, gradually working your way up in frequency. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce to once a week. If Rael Microcrystal Activated PM Serum 5000 feels too strong, the Rael Microcrystal Activated PM Serum 2000 ($23) is a gentler, beginner-friendly option.
