What do VIP Tickets to Coachella Smell Like?

Festival season is almost back, baby. Big apologies if you don’t have tickets to Coachella or Stagecoach this year, but it’s nice to know what’s going on in the world anyway, right?

Also, we have alternative methods of transportation these days. You can always livestream your favorite artists, and those who do know the rush of festival season—like Ellis Brooklyn founder Bee Shapiro—have been kind enough to capture the feeling of really being there in their products, allowing us to further transport to the desert from the comfort of our own homes or Sephora aisles.

Featuring a vibrant blend of guava, banana, and mango blossom that’s paired with a rich mix of sandalwood, vanilla, and almond milk, Guava Granita Eau de Parfum is Ellis Brooklyn’s new, sun-soaked fragrance “that smells like VIP Coachella tickets.” Ahead, get all the info on the tropical, fruity scent, which will be available beginning April 6.

The Inspiration

Shapiro tells Byrdie that, when imagining Guava Granita, she “wanted to make a little sister of sorts” to the brand’s pink pineapple and coconut water-smelling Miami Nectar—another festival favorite.

“For inspiration, I imagined the woman who plays tennis and looks damn good while doing it—fun, chic, and very country club,” she explains. Of course, Palm Springs was the perfect backdrop.

And while the market has been dominated by skin scents and gourmands recently, this might just be proof that we’re in for a season of fruity fragrances.

“I might be biased, but nothing quite says vacation to me than a joyful fruity concoction. I love gourmands and skin scents but they don’t have the huge sillage I’m looking for here, especially in warmer weather. I want everyone’s head to turn when I’m wearing Guava Granita,” Shapiro adds.

The Scent

Incredibly escapist, the fruity-floral perfume goes tropical by way of guava, banana, bergamot, and waterlily top notes. Cavaillon melon, coconut palm, and mango blossom come in at the heart, while vanilla, sandalwood, and almond milk can be found on the dry down.

“The guava juice with the banana notes surprised me,” Shapiro notes. “I worked with the perfumer Clement Gavarry on this, and banana can be a tricky note. Here, banana is the perfect foil to guava’s tartness.”

When someone sprays Guava Granita, Shapiro wants them to feel “lush and decadent”—exactly how they might feel on a luxury beach vacation.

“But there’s also this playful aspect to the notes—it could make a killer cocktail,” she adds. “Guava Granita is ready to have fun.”
