Rosemary oil is a fantastic ingredient to use in hair products because it not only helps with dry, flaky scalp, but also stimulates hair follicles, encouraging hair growth and strengthening hair shafts. Rosemary Volumizing Powder
A fun tip is to actually apply the volumizing powder right before bed, and when you wake up you’ll have extra height to your hair that also smells divine.
—2 tablespoons cornstarch
—3–4 drops of rosemary essential oil
—2 tablespoons rice flour or potato flour
—A clean, empty spice shaker
In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch and rice flour (potato flour works fine as a substitute) and add the 3–4 rosemary oil drops. Add the mixture to an empty spice shaker and sprinkle onto your roots for extra volume.
To really ensure that it’s getting in there and absorbing the oil, use your fingertips to rub it in until the powder disappears. Then, brush out your hair. You should have some crazy volume, plus hair that smells super fresh.
Dry shampoos are also a great way to add texture to hair that’s a little too clean to style—when hair is super clean, it’s too slippery to really stay in place. Dry shampoo helps with that by adding a little grip in the form of powder.
Rosemary Coconut Oil Hair Spray for Dry, Damaged Hair
Hair spray has come a long way from the aerosol cans that made us cough and simultaneously worry about our contribution to the hole in the ozone layer. This hair spray will hydrate and strengthen your hair as opposed to most sprays on the market.
Using a spritz bottle also means you have more control over where the product goes—no more mists that somehow manage to get everywhere!
Don’t expect the strong hold of alcohol-laden hair sprays, but instead, you’ll see the frizz fade away after using this natural alternative.

—10 drops rosemary essential oil
—2 cups distilled water
Add the coconut oil to a spray bottle along with the distilled water and essential oil. Be sure to shake well before each use, as separation is normal. Spritz on damp or dry hair.
Then, either using your fingers or a wide-toothed comb, comb the product through from the roots to tips for smooth hair. This is best done as a pre-shampoo treatment; most hair types will find the spray is a touch too heavy to use on their roots every day.

We used fractionated coconut oil for this recipe. If you live someplace warm, it wouldn’t be a problem using regular so it doesn’t harden. If it does harden, you can run the bottle under hot water before use.
