Dior Jolie bag review | Deciding factors when buying a designer bag and how I narrowed it down
I didn’t know what I wanted from Dior. I just knew I wanted to try myself at the end of the year. So when I went in I just said I wanted something in calfskin not lambskin as it’s much more durable and big enough to fit my phone. The color and style didn’t matter as much. I’m one of those girls that’ll know when she knows and I had to love it.
In the end there were 3 bags I fell in love with. A burgundy exotic small Lady Dior, the prettiest Himilayan Lady Dior and the black Dior Jolie top handle bag. While the Dior Jolie didn’t have the wow factor of the other 2 I knew I’d get more wear from it and be able to use it as both an everyday designer bag and an evening bag. It does also come in lambskin, so if you want calfskin be clear so that you get the right bag!
Unfortunately, the Himilayan Lady Dior was more than I wanted to pay because that’s definitely my dream bag, it’s stunning! Time to go to work so I can afford that 1!
Dior Jolie bag review | Top features that made me buy the Small Dior Jolie top handle bag
The features I really like about the Small Dior Jolie Top Handle Bag in calfskin are that it’s so versatile. As both the top handle and shoulder strap can be added or removed as needed, as those top gold rings are like a keyring to be able to add and remove them. So you’re really getting 4 bags in 1: a top handle, clutch, crossbody or Dior shoulder bag. The shoulder strap is also adjustable so if you’re petite like me it’s not hanging down too low.
The gold and pearl details on both the strap and the CD logo clasp were also a selling on point as it’s so pretty, feminine, glam, feels more elevated than a basic flap bag and makes it work as both a day or evening bag. The shoulder strap is also leather where it sits on your shoulder which makes it was more comfortable than if it was all made of chain.
Lastly the size and price was a deciding factor. The Dior Jolie top handle bag in calfskin leather comes in 2 sizes:
- Mini Dior Jolie top handle bag: 19 x 12 x 7 cm / 7.5 x 4.5 x 3 inches (Length x Height x Width) $5,300.
- Small Dior Jolie top handle bag: 22 x 14 x 8 cm / 8.5 x 5.5 x 3 inches (Length x Height x Width) $5600.
It’s not a huge size difference but it’s enough. I chose the small as it felt more practical, I knew it’d work as both an everyday designer bag but not be too big to use as an evening bag, and it wasn’t much more expensive than the mini.

What does the Dior Jolie Top Handle bag come with
The bag comes in a Dior box and dust bag with an authenticity card. If you find a piece of paper with Dior, a star and the number 47 inside, it’s an internal control reference used by the Maison. They’re supposed to be removed before retail, so don’t worry if your bag doesn’t have this.
How to style your Dior Jolie bag
A selling feature for me was how versatile the Dior Jolie top handle bag because of it’s aesthetic and that it’s both a top handle and shoulder bag. She’s quickly becoming my everyday designer bag, which means great price-per-wear /cost per wear value. I’ll add more photos of outfit ideas after I’ve had her for a while.
Also, because of the size it works for both day and night. It’s big enough for my phone, wallet and keys but not so big that it looks inappropriate for the evening. The pearls also mean it can be dressed up or down whether that’s with jeans or cocktail dress.

- Jeans, a solid color t-shirt or button down shirt (and blazer) for the day.
- Straight leg, solid color jeans and a sweater for the winter.
- A blazer dress and court shoes/heeled pumps or knee high boots.
- A neutral color sweater dress or knit set for Fall and Winter.
- With a white maxi dress in the summer to let the colors contrast.
- Take inspiration from Lady Diana and style it with a sleek slip dress and pumps in the same color as your Dior bag.
- For the office, style it with a skirt suit for an ultra feminine and polished look.
- Style it with any color cocktail dress. Tie in with gold and/or pearl jewelry for a cohesive look.
- If styling with formal wear, I’d suggest removing the shoulder strap and possibly even the top handle so you can carry it as a clutch.
What fits in the Dior Jolie top handle bag
I manage to fit a lot in mine but am also careful not to stretch it out. I can fit my keys, card holder, Dior sunglasses case, lipstick and powder compact in mine. In the evening I’ll swap out the sunglasses case for my portable light I take everywhere for photos.

If you’re torn on whether to get the Dior Jolie or Lady Dior bag, there’s lots of similarities, as well as a few differences between them. I have both and love them both equally so it’s hard to chose, but here there are a few key differences that might make one better than the other for you and help you to decide.
Both the Lady Dior and Dior Jolie bags are classic, structured, top handle and shoulder bags with the iconic Dior cannage stitching. They also both have adjustable, removable shoulder straps but the Lady Dior has 2 top handles VS Jolie’s 1.
The Medium Lady Dior and Small Dior Jolie are practical size bags that work for both the day and the night.
Where the Dior Jolie excels is that it’s made of caviar leather not lambskin so it’s more durable. However you can find the Lady Dior in more durable materials like Lizard, Ostrich and Himalayan, if you don’t mind paying a lot more.
I find it a lot easier to get into the Dior Jolie bag’s clasp and flap opening than the Lady Dior’s small top opening (which is a zip on older models and a flap on newer).
The Lady Dior has protective feet on the bottom, which the Jolie doesn’t, I wish it did. The Lady Dior also comes in a lot more colors than the Dior Jolie. It’s also an icon.
It’s so hard to choose between them as they’re both beautiful everyday designer bags but if you’re hard wearing on your bag and want something easy to get into and feminine go for the Dior Jolie. If you’re looking for a classic investment piece, for more color, and size options go for the Lady Dior. As the Dior Jolie Top Handle Bag only comes in black or Latte.
