Lana Del Rey Responds to Rhinoplasty Speculation

The transparency trend has set a new tone in the world of cosmetic surgery. Celebrities who previously kept word of their aesthetic adjustments hush-hush aren’t just speaking out about the procedures they’ve had, they’re also sharing names of doctors and intimate details of their procedures—or lack thereof. On Tuesday, September 23, singer Lana Del Rey took to Instagram to clear up speculation that she had gone under the knife.

According to a story reported by People, the explanation occurred in the comments section of a Del Rey Instagram fan account. It began with a post reminiscing about the singer’s 2008 EP, Kill Kill. Back then, the singer went by Lizzy Grant and sported a different look. The nostalgic picture also sparked a debate about Del Rey having a new nose. Under the image, one user commented, “Her natural nose was so perf🥹.” The comment prompted a fresh response from Del Rey, saying that she has never been under the knife or anesthesia in her life. She went on to explain that while she has not had a rhinoplasty, she has had filler added to the bridge of her nose, giving it a taller appearance with no bump.

The procedure Del Rey refers to is a nonsurgical rhinoplasty, affectionately known as the liquid nose job, and is actually quite common. “A liquid nose job is the use of various fillers to improve the contour and shape of the nose. Unlike a traditional nose job, it does not involve any cutting, but can make a huge difference in how the person looks,” says West Palm Beach, FL dermatologist Kenneth Beer, MD. Dr. Beer explains that it’s best used to improve the bridge of the nose and can also change the nostrils when performed by the right surgeon.

According to Del Rey, her procedure was intended to “build up” the nose, removing its once visible hump. While the results aren’t permanent, they can make a noticeable and immediate improvement. So, is it possible that Del Rey’s past procedure could change her appearance long-term? The answer is tricky. Dr. Beer says that the results of a liquid nose job can last for years if the filler is a thick product that is not pushed by muscles and that sits relatively still.

In the case of Del Rey, fans quickly came to her defense, gushing over her response that set the record straight, admitting to the liquid nose job while doubling down on the fact that she hasn’t gone under the knife.
