New FedRAMP Authorizations Bolster Security for Gov

As government agencies face growing pressure to secure complex, hybrid environments, Cisco remains committed to our mission to serve as a trusted security partner. Over the past year, we’ve reinforced our dedication to the U.S. public sector by delivering modern security solutions tailored to the unique needs of federal, state, and local agencies.

Today we’re proud to announce a significant milestone in our journey—three new FedRAMP-authorized cloud security solutions purpose-built for federal, state, and local agencies:

  • Cisco Secure Access for Government
  • Cisco Security Cloud Control for Government
  • Cisco Multicloud Defense for Government

The U.S. government operates in a vast and intricate digital ecosystem, where even a single vulnerability or misconfiguration can have far-reaching effects on critical sectors like healthcare, energy, and defense. In these types of high stakes settings, building resilience starts with a unified and adaptable security foundation. Cisco Security Cloud is a purpose-built platform that provides the scalability and protection agencies need to safeguard their applications, networks, and endpoints.

Government IT leaders are under pressure to do more with less, supporting distributed teams, protecting sensitive data, and complying with mandates to strengthen cybersecurity and advance zero trust principles. Cisco Secure Access for Government is our answer to that challenge.

  • A cloud-delivered, FedRAMP-authorized security service edge (SSE) solution delivers zero trust access grounded in continuous verification, not perimeter assumptions. Built with machine learning, Secure Access adapts in real time to changing threat conditions, user posture, and device risk, helping agencies stay ahead of adversaries who move fast and exploit complexity.
  • It’s designed to support the human side of security: Seamless, secure access for federal employees and contractors, regardless of location or device. Whether accessing a traditional client-server app or a modern multichannel collaboration tool, users are protected by context-aware policies that enable work without needless friction.
  • For IT teams, Secure Access offers unified management: A single policy framework, a single monitoring console, and one client for every application type, over any port or protocol. This can significantly reduce operational overhead, streamline troubleshooting, and support more cost-efficient IT operations.

With the addition of Cisco Secure Access for Government, we are excited to offer a FedRAMP-authorized, single-vendor SASE solution by combining our cloud-delivered SSE with Cisco SD-WAN.

The advantages go beyond architectural, they are operational, measurable, and essential in today’s fragmented vendor ecosystem:

  • Streamlined policy enforcement: A shared policy engine ensures consistent security across users, locations, and applications.
  • Faster response to threats: Unified telemetry and analytics allow faster investigation and remediation.
  • Reduced risk of misconfiguration: Integrated management tools reduce the likelihood of gaps between networking and security.
  • Lower total cost of ownership: Fewer agents, fewer consoles, and consolidated licensing reduce the overhead burden on agencies.

SASE helps agencies secure access, remote or on-premises, while keeping teams connected to the tools and data they need.

As government agencies accelerate their cloud strategies, managing hybrid environments—on-premises, cloud, and virtual—has become increasingly complex. Cisco Security Cloud Control for Government addresses this by unifying security management, streamlining policy updates, and centralizing control of Cisco’s Hybrid Mesh Firewall to deliver a distributed security fabric with consistent policy enforcement across all environments.

Key benefits:

  • Centralized management for all Secure Firewall ASA and FTD form factors.
  • Real-time visibility into traffic, threat activity, and policy enforcement.
  • Automation of key tasks like object updates, provisioning, and device lifecycle operations.
  • Zero-touch provisioning to simplify deployment at remote and branch locations.
  • Elastic scale and faster innovation cycles through SaaS delivery.

In this initial phase, we are focusing on authorizing the firewall management capabilities within Security Cloud Control, with plans to progressively authorize the remaining capabilities in this unified management interface going forward.

As agencies shift workloads across multiple cloud providers, consistency, visibility, and automation become foundational to effective security. That’s why we’re advancing our support for federal cloud transformation through Cisco Multicloud Defense for Government.

Cisco Multicloud Defense delivers cloud-agnostic protection for workloads across AWS, Azure, and GCP. It combines deep visualization of workload relationships with threat intelligence from Cisco Talos, helping agencies rapidly identify malicious behaviors and respond faster.

Its cloud-native design also enables:

  • Dynamic visualization of east-west and north-south traffic, with real-time behavioral analytics.
  • Automated security orchestration to simplify the deployment and management of cloud network security gateways.
  • Built-in resilience, including auto-scaling, self-healing, and continuous updates aligned to cloud operating models.

With these capabilities, agencies can maintain consistent security across all cloud environments without adding operational complexity or sacrificing visibility.

As hybrid work, AI integration, and multicloud strategies continue to evolve, so must the security foundations that support them. Cisco is leading the evolution of firewall security, taking a holistic approach built for scale, agility, and zero trust with Hybrid Mesh Firewall. With Security Cloud Control and Multicloud Defense as core pillars of this approach, agencies can simplify operations, improve visibility, and prepare for the future.

At Cisco, we understand the evolving threat landscape and the trends that continue to reshape how organizations must think about cybersecurity. Attacks are becoming more sophisticated, exploiting not just vulnerabilities but also gaps in identity, access, and infrastructure. The rise of AI-driven transformation adds new urgency, introducing new capabilities and a broader attack surface.

In response, agencies need more than reactive defenses. To stay ahead, they must adopt solutions that are AI-ready, cloud-delivered, and identity-centric platforms.

Our goal is simple: Build security platforms that are resilient, responsive, and as mission focused as the agencies we serve.

FedRAMP is a testament to our secure architecture, and a reflection of our long-standing dedication to public sector innovation and security. With nearly four decades of partnership with the U.S. government, we will continue to focus on expanding our FedRAMP Authorized products and helping agencies tackle security and networking challenges head on.
