Selena Gomez's New Haircut Is So Jennifer Aniston-Coded

Key Takeaways

  • Selena Gomez wore her hair in long layers for a look that was so reminiscent of “the Rachel.”
  • She’s been hanging out with Jennifer Aniston this year, so the inspiration makes perfect sense.

Girls who throw galentines parties together… might end up taking some style cues from each other, too. That’s probably what happens regardless of your party planning proclivities if you spend any time at all with Jennifer Aniston, but Selena Gomez has had the chance to be especially influenced this year.

And now, we’re all reaping the benefits.

On Thursday, July 10, Gomez popped up on our Instagram feeds rocking the prettiest long-layered hairstyle. It was giving Jen An. It was giving “the Rachel.” It was also giving everyone else in about two weeks time, because as soon as you get into the salon you’re going to want to start copying.

Selena Gomez’s Long “Rachel” Layers

As you very well know, the original Rachel cut was short; it basically just tickled the shoulders. Like the modernized version Aniston showed off earlier this year, Gomez’s had major length and layers that were as impressive as the original.

Gomez’s hair was styled by her beloved Marissa Marino, with the cut crafted by Lisa Torn, an extension specialist, and Seama Eftekhari, who knows her way around a long layer, at Nine Zero One Salon in Los Angeles.

Falling far past her shoulders (we’re used to seeing her in a sleek lob, so this extra length is exciting!), the shiny brown locks were middle parted and feathered out so each swishy layer had a chance in the spotlight.

Selena Gomez’s Glowy Makeup

While the hair was Aniston-inspired, Gomez’s makeup was totally her. She was all dolled up for an event celebrating Rare Beauty’s latest launch, a non-sticky, shiny gloss dubbed Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss.

This is what it’s like to see a style icon in the making, by the way. The Rachel will be famous forever, but I wouldn’t be surprised if in 30 years we’re all talking about The Selena, too.
