Advancing Women’s Cardiovascular Health: Nabilah Gulamhusein Receives Top 30 Under 30 Award

Nabilah Gulamhusein, a PhD candidate at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, was recently awarded a Top 30 Under 30 Award from the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation for her research and advocacy which aims to advance women’s cardiovascular health.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women; however, women remain underrepresented in related research. Nabilah’s work seeks to change the narrative by looking at the relationship between female-specific events (including menopause, pregnancy and hysterectomy) and cardiovascular health. As the Calgary Trainee Lead for Wear Red Canada, Nabilah also raises awareness about women’s cardiovascular health within the community.

Nabilah remains dedicated to improving women’s heart health and conducting equitable cardiovascular health research. Her work aligns with the Women’s Health Research Cluster’s mission to close the health gap through inclusive research. Learn more about Nabilah’s achievement here and visit her profile on the University of Calgary website.
