In the beauty circuit today, scrolling social media can sometimes feel like browsing an endless stream of product recommendations and advertised content, so much so that knowing what beauty SKUs are worth the buy can feel impossible. But when in doubt, we rely on our curated list of celebrity beauty experts whose product suggestions and routine staples are always refreshingly top-tier. Sofia Richie Grainge is one such A-lister, and we’ve been sustaining ourselves off the nuggets of self-care wisdom she’s dropped intermittently across TikTok and Instagram for quite some time, but today the model and mom-fluencer appeared on her second rendition of Vogue‘s “Beauty Secrets” video series, where she let fans in on her up-to-date beauty routine and product must-haves, which included this cult-classic repair cream and a surprising cleanser choice.
Sofia Richie Grainge’s Current Beauty Routine
Never one to keep us guessing, Richie Grainge returned to Vogue’s “Beauty Secrets” franchise this week, revealing that “a lot has changed” since her last routine dump, and she was eager to let viewers in on what she’s reaching for most lately. Starting off strong with a rather out-of-the-box cleanser option, the social media personality revealed that she only washes her face with Vanicream Bar Soap ($7). “It’s the only thing that doesn’t break me out,” she says, and of course she’s invested in an adorable bathtub soap dish for storage purposes.
After going in with bacteria-killing Shark CryoGlow Cooling + LED Face Mask ($349) and Hydrinity’s Hyacyn Active Spray ($60) which she calls “hand sanitizer for your face,” she goes in with the product she lovingly has deemed her holy grail—the Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream ($26). After dealing with the “craziest hormonal acne” and rosacea, Richie Grainge says she’s taken a much simpler approach to skin care, and Avène’s derm- and patient-loved restorative cream has remained a steadfast staple through it all.
“As you can tell, I use a lot of this. This is my holy grail,” she says. “I always apply it under my makeup because I feel like my makeup sits so pretty on top of this.” Pro tip for any Cicalfate+ users out there: The model recommends warming up the “thick, pasty” cream in your hands and on your face while you apply. “The more you warm it up on your face, the glowier and more gorgeous it looks,” she says.
Cicalfate+ is good for more than just creating a glowy base, though. Dermatologists love the gentle, restorative cream for use on any of its 45 clinical indications, from soothing rashes and burns to minimizing scars. “I love to use and recommend the Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream for post-procedure skin, anyone dealing with a damaged skin barrier or those just wanting a soothing cream, as this cream works to calm, nourish and soothe the skin,” New York dermatologist Marisa Garshick, MD told NewBeauty. “In addition to using a postbiotic ingredient to support the skin’s microbiome, it helps to boost hydration and uses Avène’s Thermal Spring Water which helps to soften the skin.”
