Urgent Action Needed: U.S. House Passes Bill To Strip Gray Wolves Of Protections; Final Vote In The Senate | World Animal News

In a deeply troubling move, the U.S. House of Representatives has just passed the Pet and Livestock Protection Act (HR 845) with a 211-204 vote, a dangerous bill that aims to strip Gray Wolves of Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections and block judicial review. The harmful bill now heads to the Senate for a final vote.
If passed, the Pet and Livestock Protection Act, which was introduced and sponsored by Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Tom Tiffany (R-WI), would remove ESA protections for gray wolves in the U.S. within 60 days.
“This vote ignores decades of science and hands wolf management to states with a documented history of extreme, lethal policies. Wolves are not recovered across most of their historic range. Fragmented populations, genetic isolation, and aggressive kill quotas already put long-term survival at risk,” shared Team Wolf.
Where wolves roam, ecosystems thrive. As keystone species, they naturally regulate prey populations, protect vegetation, and create the conditions needed for countless species to flourish. Without wolves, the balance of our wild landscapes unravel, leading to overgrazing, erosion, and a dramatic loss of biodiversity.
Urgent Action Needed!
The fate of America’s gray wolves now lies with the U.S. Senate. If this dangerous bill passes, wolves across the country could once again be subjected to widespread killing, unchecked state management, and devastating, irreversible harm to already vulnerable populations.
Please call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your U.S. Senators. Urge them, clearly and firmly, to reject the Pet and Livestock Protection Act and any legislation that would strip vital protections from America’s gray wolves.
