Warning: This article contains spoilers for Love Is Blind season 9.
Madison Maidenberg and Joe Ferrucci are not holding back their thoughts about each other after their appearance on Love Is Blind season 9.
Joe, a 29-year-old sales professional, and Madison, a 28-year-old UX/UI designer, had a light-hearted, giggle-filled connection in the pods but things got off to a rocky start in an awkward first meeting after their proposal. Joe appeared nervous and let slip that Madison didn’t look the way he expected her to.
Their relationship issues continued as the episodes progressed with Joe sharing his concerns about whether they were right for each other and Madison growing increasingly frustrated with his non-committal attitude.
Are Madison & Joe Still Together After ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 9?
Madison and Joe broke up in a October 15 episode of the show. After leaving his wedding suit fitting in a state of panic, Joe tells Madison that she’s not his “person” and even after she pleads with him for a better explanation, he leaves.
Since the show started airing, Madison and Joe have been outspoken about one another.
Madison claimed that she developed an eating disorder after comments Joe made about her looks.
“[Joe] did mention to me that he usually dates — he said it to me as ‘more petite women.’ You know, when we date, typically our partners are attracted to us and we’re attracted to our partners,” Madison said on an October 9 episode of The Viall Files podcast. “Honestly, from that comment, I kind of developed an eating disorder moving forward.”
Madison said she’s “healthy now” but added that watching the show, which was filmed in the spring of 2024, has been “disheartening.”
“It was really hurtful,” she said. “Again, [it was] inside thoughts being said out loud that didn’t need to be said, and it made me really sad that instead of this being about our connection, it became about my appearance. It opened the door for the rest of the world to comment further than they already will [because of] what comes with scrutiny of being on a show like this.”
Madison also hinted that she and Joe had broken up in an October 8 interview with Glamour, crediting her current positive mental state to a “great therapist.”
Joe, meanwhile, responded to Madison’s comments about her eating disorder in an interview with Us Weekly. “Obviously, kind of a horrible feeling on my end if that’s something that affected her long-term or for a little while after,” Joe said. “It was a surprising comment. Madison’s always been very confident in her body image, but you never know how somebody’s really feeling inside. I didn’t mean it to affect her in that way. It’s not a good thing to hear.”
Joe admitted that the couple did have a great sex life but added, “It is not the foundation for a marriage.”
“It was hard,” he said. “There’s no common ground ever. I’m to blame for my part in that. I can say that wholeheartedly, and I think somebody else would be a great match for her.”
