Rihanna's Pink Jelly Nails Are Perfect for Spring Break

Rihanna is in her favorite physical place, which means I’m in my favorite mental place: sitting secure with the knowledge that Rihanna is happy. Recently, the 37-year-old took a trip to Barbados “with some new friends”—sharing snaps of the journey in a March 18 Instagram post.

While the photoshoot was ultimately staged to advertise her new Fenty x Puma Cat Cleat jelly sandals (I think those are the friends in question?), it also served as a showcase for her perfect jelly manicure. Instead of going with a matching “lime sheen” shade, she chose the very best compliment to the color, if you ask my middle school bedroom, anyway: pink.

The manicure was the work of Rihanna’s go-to nail artist, Kimmie Kyees. After shaping the brand founder’s nails into her preferred square shape, she painted on a sheer, milky-pink polish with a jelly finish. On her toes (this was a shoe ad, remember?) they went with a simple white pedicure.

Both polishes paired nicely with her colorful outfit and bright red lipstick: Fenty Beauty’s Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored, which was applied by makeup artist Priscilla Ono.

“This look has me obsessed,” a fan wrote on Ono’s Instagram Post. “That is what it means to have an AURA,” another added. Which brings up a good point! You can have a great aura and still rock a neutral manicure.

How to Get the Look

How lucky are we to live in a world with Rihanna, a flip-flop comeback, and at-home polishes created to capitalize on the jelly nail trend?

For this exact look, I’d go with a soft pink shade like Rose Jelly by Cirque Colors or Rose-Colored Glasses by ORLY. And if you want to take it a step further than even Rih and match with your new sandals? That would be Cirque Colors’ Lime Jelly for the lime or Essie’s Apricot Jelly for the pumpkin pie colorway.
