Most people expect their homes to be quiet once everyone has gone to bed, but for one animal-loving family in Lincolnshire, the night brings a cast of unexpected visitors. What began as a search for the cause of damaged furniture and mysteriously disappearing pet food soon uncovered a surprising secret. After installing a camera to monitor activity inside their house, the family discovered that several neighborhood cats had been slipping indoors after dark, helping themselves to meals, exploring the rooms, and turning ordinary nights into a series of amusing and unforgettable adventures.

Instead of catching one of their own pets causing trouble, the footage revealed a trio of neighborhood cats regularly sneaking into the house under the cover of darkness. The unexpected visitors were helping themselves to food bowls, exploring the property, and even enjoying the family’s collection of catnip toys.
The household already includes five cats and a dog, yet the uninvited guests seemed completely unfazed by the resident animals. According to Simon Round, their pets have done little to discourage the feline intruders from making themselves at home.
The investigation began when the family noticed that both cat food and dog food were disappearing much faster than usual. At first, they suspected one of their own animals had developed an especially hearty appetite. The camera footage soon told a very different story.
“We thought it was quite funny at the time,” Round explained. As devoted animal lovers, the family initially found the situation entertaining. Watching the cats confidently wander through the house and help themselves to snacks became a source of amusement.
Before long, however, the nightly visits became a regular occurrence.
Each morning, the family began checking their phones to see how many attempts had been made to enter the house overnight. What started as a mystery transformed into a routine filled with surprises, laughter, and the occasional bit of frustration.
Clever Cats Outsmart Every Solution

One of the most frequent visitors was a black-and-white cat named Trigger. After spotting him on camera, the family realized he had been reported missing by his owners on Facebook.
Fortunately, Trigger was safely reunited with his family. Yet even after returning home, he continued making regular trips back to the Round household, apparently unwilling to give up one of his favorite destinations.
Hoping to finally stop the nighttime break-ins, the family installed a microchip-activated cat flap designed to allow only their own pets inside. For a short time, the solution appeared to work.
The determined visitors, however, had other ideas.
The cats quickly figured out how to bypass the new security measure by closely following the Round family’s pets through the flap whenever they entered the house. Their clever strategy left the family amazed by just how resourceful cats can be.
Another regular visitor, a black-and-white cat the family nicknamed “Felix,” frequently joined the nightly adventures. A third feline, affectionately referred to as “Screaming Bob,” also became a familiar face during the late-night visits.
Despite efforts to identify their owners through social media, the family has so far been unable to determine where Felix and Screaming Bob belong.

While the mystery remains unsolved, the unusual situation has brought plenty of memorable moments. The wandering cats appear comfortable, confident, and eager to return night after night, while the Round family continues documenting their unexpected visitors.
What began as an effort to protect their home has evolved into a real-life animal sitcom, complete with recurring characters, clever plot twists, and a cast of determined feline stars who refuse to stay away.
